Robert G Edwards
Awarded 2010 Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine, Dr. Robert Edwards, along with the late Dr. Patrick Steptoe, developed in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) as a solution to infertility. This technique fertilises eggs outside of the mother's womb before implanting them back in the mother. The first "test-tube baby" was born on July 25, 1978.
