The line that designates where the ground and sky appear to meet in a landscape image, or, alternatively, would so appear if not obscured or made indistinct by intervening objects and topographical irregularities. In linear perspective, the vanishing point is typically situated on the horizon line, insofar as this line indicates the level of the eyes of the viewer of the depicted scene.
