Yes there are. Japan is 68.2% covered in forests, which is one of the world's highest forest cover rates (higher than Brazil). The forest types in Japan are: 54% subtropical, 36% temperate, rest are boreal (Northern Hokkaido) and tropical (Yaeyama Islands). The jungle type subtropical/tropical rainforests are found on the Ogasawara Islands and the Nansei Shoto Archipelago. Large subtropical/tropical rainforests are found on Chichijima Island, Hahajima Island, Yakushima Island, Amami-Oshima Island, northern part of Okinawa main island, Ishigaki Island and Iriomote Island.
