One of a set of orbital elements derived by a transformation of the Keplerian elements. The equations of the orbit are sometimes simpler when Delaunay elements are used.
Industry:Earth science
A corner whose location cannot be determined beyond reasonable doubt either from traces of the original marks or from acceptable evidence or testimony that bears upon the original location, and whose location can be restored only by reference to one or more interdependent corners.

A perspective map projection onto a cone, with two standard parallels usually taken as lying equidistant between the central and extreme parallels to be mapped. The parallels of latitude are mapped as equidistantly-spaced arcs of concentric circles. The map projection was introduced by de Lisle in 1745 and is commonly used in atlases.

A small correction made, in a computation, to allow for the difference between the true value of an angle and the sine (used in the computation) of that angle.

The distance above sea level at which the existing density of the atmosphere would be duplicated by the standard atmosphere.
Industry:Earth science
That depth below sea level at which the condition of isostatic equilibrium is complete.

(1) A river's action when an avulsion takes place. (2) The region of land circumscribed by the old and new channels which are the result of an avulsion. One should consult the laws of the particular state in the matter of the effect on the titles and boundaries, including the interpretations through the leading judicial opinions. It appears in all cases that (a) the title to the land within the region cut off and the rules applicable to the old bank-line boundary remain what they were before the avulsive cutoff took place; (b) boundaries described as the center of the main channel and those as along the medial line between the former banks remain as situated immediately prior to the avulsion; and (c) the rules of navigability and new-bank-line riparian right apply to the new channel the same as to the old channel.
